Case studies of large scale solar thermal installations
Country: Australia
For: the Australian Master Plumbers and Mechanical Service Organisation.
Provision of 2 Spanish good practice case studies of large scale solar thermal installations. The 2 cases will be used for the national guidelines for the design and installation of large scale solar thermal systems (under development). Existing codes, standards, technical solutions and reports at local, state and national level will be investigated and used as the basis for the development of these guidelines. The project will assist designers, installers and plumbing practitioners in correctly designing and installing large scale solar thermal systems.

Specification of technical requirements for solar thermal installations
Country: Chile
For: CNE, Comisión Nacional de Energía, Gobierno de Chile
Drafting the specifications of technical requirements for the installation of solar thermal installations in Chile, focusing on the residential sector. The work included, zoning of Chile and establish minimum solar fractions per zone, criteria for orientation and inclination and shadow losses, technical requirements for system components and maintenance. The specification of technical requirements will be converted in a national law and attached to the newly developed subsidy scheme in Chile.

District Heating and Cooling
Country: Chile
For: CNE, Comisión Nacional de Energía, Gobierno de Chile
The study included an International state of the art study in 5 different countries (Finland, Sweden, Germany, Island and USA) focusing on technical and legal issues, tariff structure etc. Based on this information a case study was executed for the application of district heating and cooling in Chile.

DATAMINE (Collecting DATA from Energy Certification to Monitor Performance Indicators for New and Existing buildings)
Country: Europe
For: European Commision
DATAMINE aims at improving the knowledge about the building stock by using Energy Performance Certificates as a data source. Due to the implementation of the Energy Performance Buildings Directive (EPBD) such certificates are issued for buildings all over Europe. During DATAMINE Model Projects are carried out in 12 countries with different approaches for central data collection.A harmonised data structure is supposed to facilitate the analysis and cross-country comparison of energy performance indicators.

SOLARGE (Enlarging Solar Thermal Systems in Multi-Family Houses, Hotels, public and social buildings in Europe)
Country: Europe
For: European Commission
In order to implement the needed market growth, intensive efforts are necessary. SOLARGE aims at tearing down existing market barriers and impediments concerning the extensive use of solar heat. For that, SOLARGE develops market and practice related tools that involve all relevant areas of collective solar heat such as political and legal conditions, technical developments, best practice of pilot projects, information, qualification and marketing measures. Awareness campaigns will be carried out towards all relevant professional target groups. These actions shall provide a market stimulation of collective solar heat in the involved partner countries.

|
IMPACT (IMproving energy Performance Assessments and Certification schemes by Tests)
Country: Europe
For: European Commission
The IMPACT project aims to support National actors with the implementation of the directive and to contribute to the preparation of market actors for the introduction of energy labelling in 2006. For an effective implementation of energy labelling, aspects like quality control, tools and communication need to be prepared thoroughly and tested. Within the Impact project energy labeling will be tested in 6 National tests. Market actors will be kept informed on the status of national EPBD implementation and the IMPACT project progress through newsletters and workshops. Guidelines for implementation of the EPBD, based on European best practice, will be developed and used in an EU wide dissemination program.

PV-CIFA (PV City Farming through the Implementation of a PV Ordinance)
Country: Europe
For: European Commission
The PV City Farming (PV-CIFA) project reviewed various issues related to the implementation of a PV ordinance for residential buildings on a municipal level. Building on the experience garnered in the Solar Thermal Ordinance (first developed in Barcelona), the project reviewed issues related to the application of PV, provided drafts for the legal wording of a PV ordinance, and reviewed other issues such as financing and city-specific building typology demands. The end result provided EU cities and regions with the know-how to promote PV in their residential building stock under the auspices of an ordinance.
